Delete your Orbit account

For the Orbit chat app (app.orbithq.chat and the Orbit apps), developed by an independent developer in Queensland, Australia. Updated 24 October 2026.

The short version

Delete your account in the app

  1. Sign in to Orbit and open Settings, then My account.
  2. Choose Delete account.
  3. Step 1. Choose what happens to:
    • Servers you own. Each one is either given to another member (who then has full control) or deleted. You must choose for every server before you can continue.
    • Your messages and images. Keep them without your name (they are shown as "Deleted user"), or delete them all.
    • When. In 14 days, or straight away. Deleting straight away needs a verified email address on your account.
  4. Step 2. Enter your password and type your username to confirm.
  5. Step 3 (only when deleting straight away). Enter the six-digit code we email to your verified address. The code works for 15 minutes.

Accounts that own the Orbit site or hold a staff role cannot delete themselves in the app, and are told what to do first.

What is deleted and what is kept

Deleted

Kept

After the deletion we email a receipt to your verified address, and then we forget the address. The full details are in the Privacy Policy. If we're legally required to keep information, deletion may be paused until that obligation ends.

Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in, or no longer have the app, email support@orbithq.chat from the email address on your Orbit account. Include:

We check the request came from the account's email address, and may ask you to confirm it from inside your Orbit account. We aim to reply within 30 days. Once confirmed, Orbit staff erase the account straight away, with no 14-day wait, and email a notice to the account's address if it has one. You can also write to privacy@orbithq.chat.
